14th June 2015, 1:00 pm - 7:00 pm

The Vaisakhi Mela comes to Harrow for the first time, promising a spectacular line-up of live music, dance and food from South Asia.

There will also be Gatka performances – this is a traditional form of combat training using wooden sticks in sparring matches.

The Mela (traditional fair) takes place at Byron Park behind Harrow Leisure Centre.

Radio Harrow will  be at this event getting involved with all the activities.

About Vaisakhi

Vaisakhi is an ancient harvest festival which is celebrated as the Sikh New Year. It was the day when Guru Gobind Singh Ji (the 10th Sikh Guru) chose to establish the Khalsa (the religious body of Sikhs all around the work). It is also celebrated as a New Year in Nepal and Bangladesh.
