This week on Radio Harrow’s Breakfast Show, Gary Walker was joined by Carole Heffernan of Macmillan Cancer Support’s regional office and Mary Finn who manages the Macmillan office at Northwick Park.
They discussed the various aspects of support that Macmillan provides, with a special focus on costs of cancer we don’t think about.
As well as emotional and medical support, Macmillan also help people with the additional costs that come with cancer diagnosis. This includes hospital parking costs, transport, as well as impacted funds from not being able to work.
Macmillan provide a service where they give out benefits advice and help with obtaining grants for patients. They gave out over £14,000 in grants in the Harrow area last year.
The interview also spoke about the Macmillan coffee morning and other fundraisers that they have planned.
