It is with great sadness that we share the heart-breaking news that Vic Moont, our dear friend and colleague passed away in the early hours of Friday 23rd August.
Vic gave a lifetime of service to Hospital and community radio and was an early and active member of Radio Northwick Park, including holding Trustee positions. Vic had a passion for Country music and Jazz, which he shared with others for many years broadcasting his Dixieland Country show, every Thursday.
Many of us will have fond memories of Vic as a broadcaster and friend, including his attendance at numerous HBA awards across the country, social events and fundraising activities. He will be deeply missed.
Our thoughts are with his family and friends at this difficult time.

It is with a heavy heart that we share the heart-breaking news of our dear friend and beloved colleague, Brian Rose, who passed away last week on Wednesday, the 15th of May.
Brian was more than just a broadcast legend. His vast knowledge of classical music and his fascinating discussions were gifts he generously shared with us all. During the challenging Covid lockdowns of 2020 and 2021, his soft tones brought calm and reassurance to so many. From his home studio—a space that filled him with immense pride and joy—he continued to touch our lives.
For many years, Brian was a loyal and dedicated member of Radio Harrow, presenting his own show, ‘In A Classical Mood’. He conducted countless interviews with local businesses and charities, hosted numerous events, and served as Radio Harrow’s Events Manager, leaving a positive mark on our community.
Brian was not just a pillar of Radio Harrow; he was a cornerstone of the wider Harrow community too. A member of several organisations, he was rightfully recognised as a Harrow Hero nominee, a testament to his unwavering commitment to making our world a better place.
His absence leaves a void that can never be filled. Brian will be deeply missed, and our hearts go out to his loved ones during this profoundly difficult time.
Also, let’s send our love to our Sunday team, where Brian was an integral part of the Request Show. They visited him regularly in the hospital, providing comfort and companionship in his final days.

Andrew Bottcher – Vice Chair
It is with an incredibly heavy heart that we announce the passing of Keith Chilvers, Trustee and co-founder of Radio Harrow, who lost his battle with cancer today, aged 52.
Keith started his radio career at Radio Northwick Park in 1989. He volunteered for the charity for over two decades and became a linchpin within the organisation, serving on the Trustee Board in multiple roles including Treasurer and Chair (the latter of which he held for over six years). On his departure he setup Harrow Community Radio, to help further serve the people of Harrow and build a central place that engaged with the local community and acted as a platform for them to have a voice, which may not otherwise have been heard. Over the past 26 years he also volunteered for other community based stations and worked professionally for a couple of commercial stations as well as a sports presenter at the BBC.
In 2015 he was central to bringing Radio Northwick Park and Harrow Community Radio together to form Radio Harrow; a larger community radio station and registered charity that brings together the ethos of both organisations to serve and help as many people as possible in the local communities. In the last few years he was presented to Her Majesty the Queen of England on her Diamond Jubilee visit for his radio work and was also honoured as a community champion for his local work as well as his work for the old Harrow Show. In 2014 he was presented with the Outstanding Contribution award at the Harrow Heroes award ceremony, hosted by the London Borough of Harrow.
Keith will be sorely missed by everyone who knew him. There’s not many people who can lift the spirits of everyone they meet, but Keith was one of them. Affectionately known as “Cuddly Keith”, his exuberance and passion for everything he did was always present. Though he battled cancer for three years, he did not let that define him. His positive outlook was incredible. His own doctors described him as a “Rastafarian patient” due to how calm he always was. His strength since his diagnosis in 2012 was amazing and he threw himself into promoting better recognition for bowel cancer and maintained his work as a Trustee when many might have stepped back.
Recently Keith said;
“I’ve never made a secret to anyone that I was diagnosed with cancer. Working on the radio project has always been a welcome distraction and it helps me fight the battle and I hope shows others what can be achieved.”
Keith leaves behind an enormous legacy and impact on Radio Harrow and the Harrow community in general. Though in times of inconsolable grief, we need to try and match the strength Keith had and work towards achieving the goals he laid out and the vision for the charity. He wanted Radio Harrow to be a great success and to help many people and we will continue to focus on this and let our memory of him guide us.
The future will be different for all of us from here on out, but our passion ignited.
Our thoughts now go out to his wife Kim and his family. We miss you Keith and always will.
On yesterdays Double Talk, host Shrey Puranik spoke with Ilse Steyaert, who’s daughter Georgia, aged just three, passed away after suffering a brain aneurysm. During this time of tragedy it was decided that Georgia’s organs should be donated and this has saved the lives of several children. On their JustGiving page the Steyaert’s family said;
“Georgia has subsequently given those children, their families and all of us, love, hope and happiness. The least we can do is tell the world and raise awareness of organ donation and money for sick children. All staff at Thomas Cook Children’s Critical Care Unit at King’s College Hospital were exceptional. Together we CAN make a difference and help save dying children. Thank you so, so much, from the bottom of our hearts.”
Listen to our interview with Ilse Steyaert:
The family have now released a song called ‘Georgia’s Song’, which goes on sale to raise awareness for organ donation. The song, featuring vocals by Sophie and Ellie Bokor-Ingram, can be purchased below:

On Sunday 10th May Pierre Petrou spoke with Christian Kyriacou, better known as The House Whisperer, live on Radio Harrow.
The topic of the conversation centred around discovering your relationship with your home. The interview involved an experiential visualisation workshop taking us into deeper levels of awareness of our homes, where we live being a reflection of our ‘inner’ home.
A simple yet powerful psychotherapeutic process showing us aspects of our lives and of our soul journey in this lifetime of which we may not have been aware of, Christian explained the concept of our soul connection to where we live why we were drawn there, and how to identify issues that are impacting our lives.
He illuminated how geopathic stress both at physical and metaphysical level hold the energy matrix of our intentions and karmic ancestral programmes and thus how our home can be our greatest healer and guide to life.
Pinner celebrated St. George’s day with its annual Wheelbarrow Race, now in its 52nd year! To make sure things weren’t stale, this year they also added in jousting, along with the usual morris dancers and of course plenty of beer drinking.
Around 1,000 people attended the event on Sunday, taking place predominately in Pinner High Street. Radio Harrow were on hand to not only commentate the event back to our listeners, but also to host the day as we launched our new charity.
Take a look at our highlights package from the day:
Team Knot Bard for Radio Harrow with Jon Hart and Richard Whitely came 8th, whilst just behind them were the Cowboy and Indian, also pushing themselves hard for Radio Harrow with Ant Sunney and Rikesh Patel.
However the big winners were as follows:

The final preparations are underway for the annual St George’s Day celebrations and wheelbarrow race, being held on 19th April. Pinner will be packed with people from across the borough on Sunday, gathering to join the fun-packed celebrations. There will be live entertainment, fancy dress, food, stalls, games – not forgetting the traditional wheelbarrow race, in which teams of two competitors race through the streets, making pit stops at pubs.
Radio Harrow will be covering the live on event as we launch our new radio station! The event starts at 1pm and the wheelbarrow race at 3pm. Motorists are strongly advised not to park in Pinner High Street from noon as it will be closed from 12.30pm to 4.30pm. Revellers are advised to walk, or use public car parks in Chapel Lane, Love Lane and Waxwell Lane, which are free on Sundays.
We look forward to seeing everyone there!
